Everyone expects to be overjoyed by the birth of a new baby. Few plan for problems during the pregnancy. But, in reality, 10 percent of pregnant women need highly-specialized medical care for themselves and their baby

Specialized Care from Perinatologists
Perinatologists (also called maternal-fetal physicians) work alongside a woman’s obstetrician to ensure a healthy pregnancy and birth. They often see patients who are experiencing the more-common, complication-free pregnancy. But, they also apply their expertise when a mother and baby need specialized monitoring and medical care.

If you are a woman with a high-risk pregnancy, take comfort in knowing that you are in good hands. Your doctor and our perinatologist will monitor you closely. This may include more frequent doctor visits, tests to monitor medical problems, blood tests to check levels of medication as well as amniocentesis, ultrasounds and fetal monitoring.

Our program includes a specialized fetal surgery program and is one of the few in the country that performs fetoscopic laser photocoagulation for treatment of Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome.
